SHEILA NORRIS R.I.P. 1934 - 2008

For many years Sheila taught English at Chilworth Friary to visiting friars from abroad and was still teaching up to the day before her death. She died on Wednesday 29th October 2008, a day after the sudden death of her son, Dominic. She expired her last breath as Fr Peter Hall finished anointing her with the Holy Oils.

The church was full to capacity for their funeral on Wednesday 13th November 2008, and Sheila's remaining family were in the congregation, including her two other sons and her daughter and their children. Michael Copps (the Minister Provincial) and Austin Linus (until very recently the Guardian of Chilworth Friary) travelled from Woodford for the Requiem Mass and concelebrated with six other priests. Fr Peter Hall presided at Mass and amongst the mourners were members of the Secular Franciscan Order of which Sheila was a member. Among the symbols of faith that were placed on her coffin was an SFO prayerbook and a Tau cross.
